Jordan Horse Riding Wadi Rum: 8 Nights – 9 Days

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Amman

Upon arrival at Amman Airport our representative welcomes you and assists you through immigration. Then transfer to your hotel in Amman for overnight.

Day 2: Amman – Madaba – Mt. Nebo – Kerak – Petra (B, D)

Today we drive to the town Madaba, where you find the famous mosaic 6th century map of Palestine in St. George's church. We continue to Mt. Nebo, the place where Prophet Moses gazed at the promised land before he died and alleged to be his burial place. You visit an old monastery, overlook the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and parts of the Holy Land. Afterwards we drive to the Crusader castle Kerak and continue to Petra hotel for overnight.

Day 3: Petra visit – Wadi Rum (B, D)

In the morning we start to visit the rock city Petra, Jordan's most famous attraction and one of the New Seven Wonders. A local guide will give you a short introduction of this unique place and walks with you via the Siq, a narrow gorge, to the most beautiful monument, the Treasury. From here you explore the area by yourself, taking you to the Street of Facades, and the Royal Tombs. In the late afternoon drive 1.5 hrs to Wadi Rum. We meet the horses and the team, dinner & overnight in private camp at Um Ishrin.

Day 4: Wadi Rum (B, L, D)

Breakfast, then we start our ride taking us to Lawrence House, where T.E. Lawrence, known as Lawrence of Arabia spent a while. We pass red sand dunes, Jebel Khazali and Anfashieh featured by many rock inscriptions from Nabatean or Thamudic origin. We continue in the direction of Burdah, dinner & overnight at camp.

Day 5: Wadi Rum (B, L, D)

In the morning we set off for another day in this beautiful and silent desert. We see the famous rock bridge in Burdah and make our way close to the Saudi Arabian Border. The area offers flat terrain for gallop, you will see different colored sand dunes and have panorama views to Saudi Arabia from southern Wadi Rum. Dinner & overnight in camp close to Jabal Um Ad Dami, the highest mountain in Jordan (1832 m).

Day 6: Wadi Rum (B, L, D)

After breakfast, we leave the area behind and ride to Jabal Rum, the second highest peak in the desert, popular for climbing. On the way we maybe see some Bedouin tribes still living in a traditional way. Dinner & overnight in private camp in Wadi Ruman.

Day 7: Wadi Rum (B, L, D)

Breakfast, we prepare the horses and ride to Lawrence's Spring, named after T.E. Lawrence. Today we reach the Barrah Canyon, a 5 km long valley we will explore on horse. Farewell dinner & overnight in camp at Barrah.

Day 8: Wadi Rum – Dead Sea (B, D)

Today say farewell to the horses and the team and drive ca. 3.5 hours to the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea. Here you have time to relax and float on salty water. Dinner & overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Dead Sea - Amman Airport (B)

Dependent from departure time transfer to the airport to take your flight back home.

Hotel Larsa Amman: This hotel in Amman is good for business and leisure seekers, located at the 8th circle. All 62 rooms provide standard modern facilities like air condition, satellite TV, and mini bar.

Petra Palace: Petra Palace hotel in Wadi Musa, few kms to the visitors centre of Petra. Is a good property for a comfortable stay, providing 83 rooms with a/c, satellite TV and phone, and outdoor swimming pools

Bait Ali Camp: In Wadi Rum The camp and rest area is built in the Bedouin Arabic tradition, with a camping area, a large kitchen, modern showers and toilets, you will share with other guests.

Important Notes:

• Travel time: September – May.
• Horses: Arabian Mares.
• Riding ability: advanced.
• Wadi Rum Camp: private camps, tents (2 pax), mattresses, no bathroom available, but water for washing provided; cooking equipment.
• Clothes: riding trousers, cap, sunglasses, sun block, windproof jacket, torch, gloves, warmer clothes for cooler nights, scarf as protection against sun.
• Riding days: starting at 8 AM, from noon to 2 PM lunch break, continue till sunset.
